Marvel's finally decided to release the next volume of the Reign of X Anthologies! Darn those supply-chain issues, that DC Comics and all the indies have somehow been able to sidestep! Anyway, we're back -- and we're just in time for the Hellfire Gala! Oh, you didn't know? There's going to be a Gala! If only these books would bother to mention it!

Since Marvel trade paperbacks are suffering the affects of shrinkflation (which we're surely only imagining), we only get the first five issues of the event here. Looks like the Gala will be eating up the next two collected editions as well!

From Feast to Famine... and back to Feast again!

The sophomore volume of Hickman's flagship is... uneven.  It starts off amazingly strong, with one of the seminal stories of this entire era, and the source for many of our podcast discussions... the introduction of the Crucible!

From there, he wastes a bunch of our time with the Brood, a "funny, ha-ha" with Broo eating an Egg, a Deadly Genesis continuity error that breaks one of the ONLY rules associated with the Resurrection Protocols... then Empyre cash-ins!  At least ONE of those Empyre cash-ins was fun to read!

This is an interesting assortment... I've often wondered how folks who ONLY read the flagship were "receiving" this new era -- here's a chance to find out!

Welcome back, Trade-Waiters!

For our third compilation/anthology episode - we're taking a look at the difficult second issues of each of our DoX launch books, in which they all sorta go their own way.  I gotta wonder, while incredibly convenient... was this a satisfying read if you were following along via the anthology trades?

Anyways, in the wake of the apparent assassination last time out, Krakoa is... well, I would say "high alert", but nah, they're all still dancing around that bonfire like nothing even happened.

The Summers's's's have an outing that introduces the Creepy Summoner, Betsy is Captain Britain, Call Me Kate gets coronated, the New Mutants annoy the Starjammers, Quentin Quire smells like Axe Bodyspray, and Fallen Angels... exists.
