In which Madelyne Pryor and your humble host share an x-istential crisis!  What does it mean to “exist”… what proof do you have that you did?  Wanna hear an idiot talk about it for a bit – go no further!  We also keep things half-assed “heavy” as we talk about the concept of transference, or “You have no idea how many times I refer to Kwannon as ‘Betsy’!”

All that, plus our customary x-cellent mailbag!  It’s a good time as always – I hope you’ll join us!

You're right to say that this issue really does make villainy sound like a logical response for Maddie when you consider what she has been through. It turns out editorial fiat is the biggest villain.

Generally speaking I continue to enjoy Hellions. I find it weird that I don't get upset by the ultra violence in Hellions but it often annoys me in X-Force and Wolverine. I think the difference is tone. Hellions has a very consistent voice whereas X-Force is all over the place, veering from try-hard comedy to attempts at geopolitics.

I know that nostalgia is a huge part of my affection for this book. Using characters from the Australia era puts it right in my sweet spot but that's not the whole reason as I'm also beginning to understand the point of Kwannon. In fact it amazes me that the second wave of Dawn of X has managed to get me to care about characters from Fallen Angels. Both Kid Cable and Psylocke have been revitalised. It's miracle far more impressive than the resurrection protocols.

Anyway until Arclight gets her own cooking show – Make Mine X-Lapsed.
