Following our recent dips into the one-n-dones, Azrael-land, and Anthologyville… we get a “return to form” in No Man’s Land storytelling. A couple of gang-leaders are looking to expand their turf… and, if they gotta break a few bats to do so, so be it! We also bear witness to another big ol’ dollop of Gordon family drama. It’s definitely a fun one!

  • Some major goings on in this issue. It seems like Two-Face has got his fingers in quite a few different territories. He not only knows about Blackgate being Batman’s prison but he has bought off KGBeast so he can come and go as he pleases. He is making plans with Penguin and could it be that his new friend Montoya is being used as a go between with the GCPD.

I’m enjoying the continued animosity between Gordon and Pettit. Pettit has become much more the voice of reason in their disagreement.
And the Gordon’s relationship is front and center again. Jim wants to keep his wife safe and is keeping her in the dark as a way of keeping her safe. Perhaps if she knew everything that Jim was doing she would outright side with Pettit against Jim.

The major time jump to winter caught me a little off guard. I know that No Man’s Land plays out over the course of a year in story, but seeing time distinctly shift in story is something we never really experience as comic readers.

And hey, you found the one reader who actually liked Nicholas Scratch.
