Hey everybody, today we wrap up our few month-long trek into the formerly Patreon-exclusive Comix Tawk archives… with a, thankfully, obsolete episode! So happy that heads rolled at DC Comics not too long after this, and much of this concept was seemingly dropped.

This episode of Comix Tawk would wind up being the final thing Reggie and I ever got to record together. Just a couple of weeks after this show, Reggie would suffer a stroke. I never thought, at the time, that we’d never again get the opportunity to be back on-mic shooting the breeze about comics.
DC’s rumored 5G reboot… is a weird little topic, and one that managed to get under both our skins. If you choose to listen to this episode, you’re gonna hear a very heated Chris and Reggie… talking a lot of spoo against DC Comics and their current “brain trust”.
I gave up buying comics years ago, in the middle of Final Crisis and Secret Invasion. So I didn't experience all the DC and Marvel annual reboots and relaunches. But I do believe they would have driven me crazy and out of buying comics if I wasn't already out.
As for 5G. Before Flashpoint there were already 5 generations in the DC Universe.
First generation was JSA
Second generation was JLA
Third generation was Titans
Fourth generation was Young Justice
And the Fifth generation were the children of the Titans (Jai and Iris West, Lian Harper, Robert Long, Daniel Hall, Cerdian, etc…)
And then somewhere down the line the LSH are the Nth generation.
And as for replacing all of DC's major heroes with new characters. They already did that too. Reign of the Supermen …. Azrael-Batman …. Artemis-Wonder Woman …. Kyle Rayner-Green Lantern …. Arthur Joseph Curry(Sword of Atlantis)-Aquaman …. etc…
Comics as a medium have lost their intended market. For decades they were made for 8 to 12 year olds. Most 8 to 12 year olds today have never seen a comic book. Chasing the ever aging, ever shrinking collector demographic will lead to the death of the american comic book medium. Abandoning the new young reader to appease the older readers was the worst mistake comics ever.
